[Workshops] BlenderCookie: Mastering Modeling In Blender

If you've read any of my other articles, you have probably heard me talk about an awesome workshop, that I wouldn't know where I would be today, had I not attended it. This is that workshop, BlenderCookie's Mastering Modeling In Blender Workshop, instructed by Jonathan Williamson. This workshop was made into an "instant access" workshop earlier this year, with a reduced price anyone can consider, as well as hours upon hours of video tutorials you couldn't find anywhere else.

If you have ever watched a tutorials on BlenderCookie, or any of the CGCookie sites, you have probably watched a video created by Jonathan. Needless to say, he's a great instructor, a great 3D modeler, and I have yet to see anyone from the community say otherwise.

The workshop has plethora of tutorials outlined in a 4 week course, covering topology, intensive poly modeling, sculpting, and retopology. Each week has a project you complete each week, and share with other people attending the workshop to get feedback before turning it in as your final project. Basically you learn all of the tips and tricks to make anything you could possibly imagine, and make it a professional quality model.

After taking this course, I looked back at all of my old models, and realized I made a ton of mistakes. Not only that, I was able to create them all over, in a quarter of the time they took me prior to the course. Overall, I had a whole new outlook on modeling, and ended up understanding it more than I could have thought.

When I signed up for this workshop, I was probably 200 hours into Blender already, but anyone just starting Blender could benefit from this exact workshop, as Jonathan added a "Getting Started" section to the workshop, so that someone that hadn't even opened Blender yet could follow the exact same course line without a single hitch. Even if you don't have much time to spend learning Blender, the workshop is now setup for "Instant Access" allowing you to go at your own pace. You can take 2 weeks for a single week if you wanted, or if you are ambitious like I was, do all 4 weeks in 9 days. It's all up to you how you want to do it.

I know this article looks like a huge ad for BlenderCookie, but I wanted to share this, because at this point in time it has been the best money I spent learning anything in CG. While I'm sure there will be other workshops that will compare, this is in fact one of those things you want to do, if you are truly serious about becoming a professional in this field.
